Often described as an oasis in an urban setting, Leach Botanical
Garden combines exotic plantings along with native plants under
towering trees. It is on the banks of Johnson Creek. and it is
one of the largest horticultural libraries on the West Coast.
Self-guided tours are available on this 320-acre
donation land claim once belonging to Jacob Johnson, a sawmill
operator who furnished lumber for very early homes in Portland. The
grounds and manor house are maintained by a partnership between the
Leach Garden Friends and Portland Parks and Recreation
Directions Leach Botanical Garden lies
just .5 mile South of the Springwater Corridor crossing at Southeast
122nd Avenue. On street bike lanes on 122nd Avenue provide easy
access to the gardens from the Springwater Corridor.
